Why choose a 2-axle semi-trailer?

The standard in international transport is the 3-axle semi-trailer. However, there is a large and specific market for 2-axle trailers. When purchasing a used double-axle trailer, you benefit from three concrete advantages:

• Lower toll costs: In many European countries, such as Germany, you pay tolls based on the number of axles of the vehicle combination. A 2-axle semi-trailer behind a 2-axle tractor unit falls into a cheaper rate class than a 5-axle combination.
• Lower empty weight and maintenance: One less axle means less steel, two fewer tires, and one less set of brakes to maintain. This significantly reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Maneuverability: 2-axle semi-trailers are often built shorter (e.g., 11 meters instead of 13.6 meters), making them ideal for tight loading and unloading locations.

City trailers and steering axles

Within our stock of 2-axle trailers, you will regularly find so-called city trailers. These are semi-trailers specifically built for urban distribution, such as supplying supermarkets or hardware stores.

A characteristic feature of these trailers is that the rear axle is often a steering axle (for example, via a Tridec steering system or a trailing steering axle). As a result, the trailer tracks the tractor unit much more accurately, allowing you to easily take sharp corners in the city center without scrubbing tires or hitting curbs.
