What is an LHV truck?
An LHV truck (Long Heavy Vehicle), also known as an EMS truck (European Modular System) or double trailer combination, is a tractor unit set up to pull two trailers or a dolly-coupled trailer combination. The total length can reach up to 25.25 metres under European regulations, significantly increasing cargo capacity compared to a standard 18.75 metre combination.
LHV combinations are built for efficiency in high-frequency transport operations where cubic capacity matters more than payload weight. Typical applications include retail logistics, e-commerce distribution, paper and packaging transport and any operation where freight fills the trailer before reaching the weight limit.
